The Hirapur Field is located around 16 km south of Ahmedabad City in Gujarat State.
The field lies within the Ahmedabad – Mehsana tectonic block. The field was discovered
in 1996 by the Hirapur-1 well, and oil is contained within the Kalol Formation sandstones
of Middle to Upper Eocene age. Three new wells were drilled in 2006 to enhance the
production.
